Just a quick update to let y’all know that the ingenius new Lectrosonics RM Remote Controller–which I was the first to give you the scoop on from AES a while back–is finally here. Howard from Lectrosonics has been demoing it this weekend at the BSMC, and you can check it out on their website.

Way…frickin…cool.

New Book on Portfolio Design

Monday, May 8th, 2006

I just got word from Rafael Jaen, the costume department head and portfolio guru at my alma mater, Emerson College, that his new book on developing and maintaining a design/tech portfolio for theatre, film, and tv will be shipping from Focal Press this August.

Raf’s given lots of workshops on this subject, both at Emerson and elsewhere, and really knows his stuff. In addition to all of his expertise, the book also features lots of advice and examples from people working in the industry, including yours truly.

Check it out, and pre-order your copy from Amazon:

How NOT to Write a Review

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

So, after going through an entire box of tissues at work today (literally, I opened it early in the morning, and was hitting the last few “indicator” tissues at the end of the day) in one of my semi-annual “somebody please just stop the awfulness” allergy attacks, I decided that I’m going to start shopping around for an air purifier/filter, so that I can at least start and end the day without aggrivating my allergies.

So, I headed over to Epinions to search for well-reviewed air purifiers. After reading a few, I was reminded quickly of why review sites like this and the reviews at Amazon frustrate the hell out of me.
